Hey all, playing with 16mm at 161 & Ding Dong in the first 2 weeks in Feb, hope to see you all there. Have a listen @ www.myspace.com/sixteenmillimetre
It seems Fi and I have become fixated on movies about horrible thing happening to good people. I would recommend all these movies but certainly not for a good night in. They just make you feel crap all over !
Ok Folks, here is my top 5 cd's from 2006, in no particular order.
OSI : Free Eskimo Joe : Black Fingernails, Red Wine Sarah Blasko : What the sea wants, the sea will have Lily Allen : Alright, Still She Wants Revenge : She wants revenge
Well Xmas was everything i expected. Im not really a big fan of the holiday, but i will still take the days off work. The 'Fakes vs 16mm' gigs were fun. I am looking forward to more, but i dont think i will play 2 gigs in the one night again. Fingers crossed NYE will be fun.
Well, with the states worst fires in almost 100 years, about 15% of Victoria is either burnt or burning. Some days you can hardly see the sun because of all the smoke. I'm sitting on my office and all I can smell is fire. This doesnt help our water shortage either. It's gonna be a long dry summer.
I am now playing for ‘Sixteen Millimetre’(Bowie meets Buckley meets Cave), we have a gig on the same night as my ‘fakes’ gig. (Just call me the “hive project wh*re”). ‘the fakes’ at 10:30 at the Central Club, followed by my first show with ‘sixteen millimetre’ at Pony at midnight.
Happy Mo-vember Mo-bros!! The annual Mo-vember gala is on Thursday night and we will be Mo-ed up to the nines. It's for a worthy cause. www.movember.com.au
Due to the 30 ft high stage not taking up as much space as expected, 500 side view tickets were made available to the sold out U2 show here on Saturday night, for $59 (normally $130) Dave and I thought, "hey, why not?"..... I've never seen over 100,000 people in one place. Now I can say I have. I'm not a fan of the band, but I was certainly impressed by the show.
A big thanks to everyone who came last night, eventhough it was hailing. We were hoping for about 100 punters and we got 104, so we are all stoked. Thanks so much for the support and for all those who bought merch, thanks heaps ! XXX We got a review in the music australia guide too: http://www.musicaustraliaguide.com/reviews/1315
7/10 "The Fakes have been dubbed Melbourne’s Mazzy Star. Their sound is heavenly, delicate and dreamy. Their second EP follows the impressive debut, Storm In A Teacup. You won’t hear this pumping at a nightclub, but it could easily be the soundtrack to a European movie, where the scene is all smoky and hazy. The opening cut, Were You Listening, is a gentle epic. Juliarna Cleal’s vocals perfectly fit the mood set by Jase McCormick’s hypnotic guitar lines. Languid beauty. The Fakes are the real deal." Jeff Jenkins
Fi and I went to Derby Day on Saturday, along with 130,000 other people. We were at the barrier of the 300m mark with all our ca$h on the 50:1 slow-poke "who's your daddy". Lets just say we sounded like two drunk dickheads screaming that name out !.... Had a fun day. God i love Melbourne.
Paid of my ticket to Japan today, I fly out March 16th for 3 weeks. This should keep me sane until December 2007 when I head off on "Dave's Around the World in 100 Days" trip.
Thats assuming North Korea doens't need a more challenging target than it's southern counterpart.
